What’s on

Show & Tell and Demo

We meet on the third Sunday of each month. Each meeting usually features a Members’ Show and Tell where Members can explain how they have turned an item.

We also have Club Challenges where Members try their hand at turning a nominated item such as a piece of fruit, a spinning top, or a lidded box.

There is also a woodturning demonstration by a Club member on how to turn particular items such as natural edge bowls, spice grinders, or a decorative platter. Several times a year we invite renowned woodturners to demonstrate their skill and particular specialty. This can involve professional woodturners, or outstanding turners from other clubs in the Sydney region.

We also conduct the formal business of the Club. This is where the President and Committee Members report on our finances, workshop upgrades such as new equipment, forthcoming events and other key activities including support for local community groups and charities and toy-making.

Bunnings Belrose Sausage Sizzles

Our major source of income comes from running the sausage sizzle at Bunnings Belrose. We usually do this four times a year and everyone is encouraged to come along and help.

Closer to Christmas, there is usually a ‘Family Fun Night’ where we can demonstrate woodturning, and give away some Christmas-themed turned items to the local kids. This also provides us with an opportunity for Members to sell some of our their work.

Creative Open Weekend

The Creative Open is our chance to shine! The Creative Open is a winter arts and craft festival organised by the Northern Beaches Council so people can discover local creative experiences and spaces including exhibitions, demonstrations, and performances.

We throw open our doors for the entire weekend and run workshops and demonstrations. Members can showcase their work for display or sale, and it gives us the opportunity to wax on about woodturning and hopefully encourage people join our Club.
